To use a harness or to use a collar? It boils down to the preference of the dog or if the dog has breathing issues or if the dog tends to run away when excited. Both harness and collars have their advantages. Harness does not put pressure on the neck and distributes the force exerted on the leash. A collar, on the other hand, might be more comfortable for the dog and it also enables an ID tag to be hung on the collar for easy identification in case the dog runs out. Dogs can easily slip out of their collars whilst harnesses offer more security and control.
